Option to bring Remnant 2 item tooltips faster #3
Comments
I think the tooltip should be instant by default, the reasoning is my primary desire when i mouse to this item is to know what/where/when. So this tooltip summary of the basic requirement is what i want to know so i want to see that first. The contextual stuff is more explorative. If i want to know more, investigate something but it's not my primary reason for wanting to see info about this item. Also though, maybe something in the context menu to not leave the app, just link direct to the missing items entry. So to me the tooltip should instantly deliver mission critical info for that item so i can decide how to proceed. |
I have not tried this yet I need to try it to see what it's like. You may be right.
Can you explain this a bit more? What is the difference between basic requirement and the contextual stuff? Can you give an examlpe? |
@razeedazee as a side note, if you see something in RSG that is not available here that you find useful, please let me know. I'm watching the issues over there but I can miss stuff. |
@AndrewSav the context menu is the right click menu. As i said before the implementation of the two is the thing that is a little off. It could all just be in the context menu with no tooltip. An option to view missing item info. So for me when i mouse to the missing item i want to know how to get it (why it's missing). It's my primary concern and reason for interacting with that item the UI. So i was right clicking, going to wiki to get this info. If i could right click, get an option to be directed to relevant missing item entry, same thing, this would be a context menu entry? |
I do not enjoy doing UI work in general, and I'm always struggling to make good UI choices, that's simply not my thing. So if you are thinking about some new UI, you need to be much more specific than that and even then it's not a fact that I can wrestle WPF into doing that. What I can do, is add the option for the delay, and make the delay shorter by default. Alternatively if you can get people to implement something in RSG I can look at porting that across. @crackedmind was looking into WPF UI 3.0 upgrade, it could be there is something useful or relevant there. |
This will work fine. The faster response will make it more obvious there is a tooltip. If they want more in depth context, they can right click, like links to external sites. |
Waiting for this new UI to take shape |
Some people do not realize that every item has a tooltip description. It would be good to make a tooltip delay shorter, and also adding an option to fine tune the delay duration.
