the conveyor belts have weird and sometimes non-functioning behaviour depending on the theme.
Clean, Overgrown, P1:
you can't easily walk off the end if you weren't moving with the conveyor before you hit the end.
shadows are "painted on" to the parts of the conveyor belt and move with the belt, which is very odd
1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s:
by default, the conveyor belt does not move at all (unlike the first three themes). the only way i have found to get it to move is by setting "Start reversed" to ON, "Rail oscillate" OFF, and "Start active" OFF, then connect it to some power source; a trigger once at the start of the door is what i have been using as a workaround.
even when it does work using this method:
it moves quite a lot faster than the first 3 themes
you can pretty easily fall and get stuck in the end of the belt, causing the parts of the belt to get stuck on you and leave enormous visual gaps in the belt if you can manage to get out (image)
Expected behavior
if possible shadows and lighting should not be baked into the belt pieces
collision at the end should be such that the belt pushes you onto the end platform properly
in the old aperture themes the belt should match the behaviour of the new aperture themes (i.e. being on by default, and being activated in the same ways)
the belt should not be that fast in old aperture themes
you should not be able to get stuck and mess up the spacing of the belt pieces
Steps to reproduce
if necessary make sure you have the conveyor belt in your BEEmod palette and have selected an old aperture theme, and that you have exported it to portal 2.
create a new test chamber
place a conveyor belt and extend it over a few squares (5-6)
build and run the map and observe that it is not moving at all.
additionally:
go back into the editor and set "Start reversed" and "Rail oscillate" to ON, and "Start active" to OFF, and connect some kind of power source to it (a trigger or a button or whatever you like)
when the belt is moving, stand on the belt and do not move.
you may get stuck at the end of the belt and the belt pieces will get stuck moving into you and will not be able to keep moving until you get unstuck
you can repeat these steps in any of the old aperture themes.
