As found by @tclune, when you build MAPL3 (but probably even MAPL2) with NAG and Release flags, many of the unit tests die. The issue seems to be the use of $omp master as if you delete/comment out all the calls in MAPL, things work again.

This might be related to #3336 not sure as that one was an Intel issue...but I'm going to try and reproduce.

Note that some of the other MAPL3 tests are failing for unrelated reasons. Will open a separate ticket if/when I can isolate.
