I've experienced a bad case of WTF.
Playing Witcher 3 (GOG version) in Heroic 2.15.2 (macOS 15.2, GPTK latest).
Been running fine for months, syncing saves to GOG.
Unfortunately, I had missed the blog post of GOG where they announced the 200MB limit for savegames last August.
And I had hit that ceiling end of December.
Nonetheless, saves got synced. No error messages - neither in Heroic nor from GOG.
So, yesterday I started the game, wanted to continue my story - and was more that a little confused when the game started loading a save game that was 14 days old.
Checked the local directory. All .sav-files from today back to December 28th were gone.
More confusingly, the related .pngs are still there.
Checked the online GOG saves manager and noticed that all saves older than December 28th are there, but not beyond.
Tried a forced download sync in Heroic.
The prompt states that 1090 files are online, but it only downloads 350 of them. All older than Dc. 28th.
Conclusions thus far:
I've hit GOGs savegame size limit on Dec. 28th
Heroic did try to sync nonetheless
Heroics sync script needs a quota check function (!)
It seems the files have even been uploaded, but can't be downloaded (aren't even visible from https://www.gog.com/account/cloud-saves/ but the sync prompt states the existence of a substantially larger amount of files)
Questions open:
Why did the newer (local!) .savs disappear?
Seems like an autosync process went wrong and deleted local files that had no online counterparts.
can I force the Heroic sync script to download all files found online?
"force download" lists 1000 files online but loads only those also visible in the GOG saves manager.
