Problem definition

As the effect of bending on the shorting of the beam is not included in the underlying beam theory, the following example shows, how this effect can be modeled with the help of multiple beam elements. For that purpose the following shallow angled beam is investigated:

Results

The beam will form one total circal as soon as the curvature is κ = 1/R = 2π/L = 6.283 and therefore the z-moment equals M_z = κ*EI_z = 1.32E7.
