Currently, users must pay close attention to their emails or know about the "Moderation" section in the "Manage sounds" area of the profile icon drop-down menu and check that manually, to notice that their pending sounds require attention.

  1. People increasingly are trained to ignore phone calls, sms and also emails. Often it becoming impossible manage information influx due to ads and spam.
  2. Manage sounds/Moderation can only be discovered through exploration

Freesound looks like this to them:

freesound page logged in

A red notification badge notification would likely help draw their attention to the "Manage sounds/Moderation" section.

There already is one in place for notifying about private messages:

current notification badge

  1. This badge should be active for new messages as well as when there are sounds in "Manage sounds/Moderation".
  2. The "Manage sounds" drop-down menu item and "Moderation" section link/header should have a red counter of the sounds in Moderation.

This is what it could look like:

suggested notifications

This might be much more useful and hopefully significantly easier to implement than #1779 .

(For the future a nice-to-have would be if users are only notified of moderation sounds where the last action/message is by a moderator. If the user reacted to all sounds in "Moderation" in "Manage sounds", they shouldn't be bugged by a badge any more)
