With Emby for Kodi, you are now able to import your Emby library into Kodi. This allows you to use all the native functionalities of Kodi while using your Emby server to manage your media. It's the best of both world and you will see a great boost in performance while using Kodi. You will experience ultra smooth navigation, beautiful UIs and be able to playback any file under the sun. So let's get started!
What you need:
- Release candidate for Kodi Helix, Kodi Isengard or Kodi Jarvis
- Emby repository by installing from zip: Stable or Beta or NEW! you can add http://kodi.emby.media as a Kodi source and install them directly in Kodi. Find out more here!
- Your Emby server up and running with your media libraries already established under your server dashboard > Library.
Important to note:
- The add-on is not compatible with MySQL database replacement in Kodi. Emby for Kodi completely replaces the need for this, as your Emby server becomes the back end to your Kodi setup.
Now the fun begins!
Install Emby for Kodi:
- In Kodi > Settings > Add-ons > Install from zip the Emby repository downloaded above.
- In Helix: Navigate to Add-ons > Get Add-ons > Kodi Emby stable/beta add-ons. In Isengard or higher: Add-ons > Install from repository > Kodi Emby stable/beta add-ons.
- The listing might not appear at first. Simply press "c" on your keyboard or open the context menu while your cursor is on Kodi Emby repository and select "Force Refresh".
- Install Emby for Kodi by entering the Kodi Emby repo and selecting Video Add-ons > Emby.
- Restart Kodi.
Setup Emby for Kodi:
- Once Kodi is running, you will be prompted with our Emby server auto-discovery process. You will need to set up your server and user information.
- When your information is set, you will be asked to enter your password if you have one. For your convenience, if you are connected locally to your server and you have an easy-pin in place, you can use it. Otherwise, use your full password.
- The initial syncing process will start. The add-on will gather your content's metadata per media type and process each section. The length of time will depend on the size of your library. Emby for Kodi only needs to do this once per Kodi profile.
- Once the full sync is done, you can browse your media in Kodi. Afterward, any content to sync is done automatically in the background and will be processed instantly (within seconds).
