Previously, it wasn't recognized that bold/italics don't get parsed correctly, but as italics get outputted to OSIS now, the result doesn't validate any longer. The main problem seems to be nested bold and italic markup, experienced in Ruth 1 for instance.

Indeed not fixed (noticed when trying to build EPUBs with your converter... took a while to find the stacktrace in the vast output of license headers...)
The problem seems to be that <hi> tags as well as <divineName>, <foreign> and <q> tags get produced inside <a> tags inside <note> tags. And OSIS does not like that kind of formatting inside footnote hyperlinks.
