This is a concern which is referred to other browsers as well, yet it is independent and does not rely on other to implement it, because most of the bookmark management services primarily utilize tags.
I have wrote an article at gemini://woodpeckersnest.space/~schapps/journal/2025-01-08-deprecate-netscape-bookmarks.gmi
I that article, I sugges t to utilize only a couple or three folders.
For Otter Browser it could be:
Bookmarks
Speed Dial
Trash
All the rest of the bookmarks be managed with tags.
I am aware that it might be less efficient to do with XBEL, in comparison to an SQLite database.
I ma willing to assist in the design of an SQLite database for this task, if XBEL is not desired when tags are implemented.
