[NEW FEATURE]: Support for Startpage Search Engine #98
Comments
thanks for the proposal @bitfl0wer @C0ntroller I remember, that you already looked into that in the past and that we encoutered issues with startpage. I looked for the corresponsing pr issue2 EDIT: I checked, and actually startpage should be supported right now: https://github.com/TUfast-TUD/TUfast_TUD/blob/main/src/contentScripts/fwd_startpage.js Which version of TUfast are you running @bitfl0wer ? |
I did some implementation but because startpage uses post requests as default (even when using the browser search bar) it's tricky. It works sometimes. Currently I have no time to fix this but it should be possible. |
I am running 6.0.0.12 on Firefox 98.0.1 with Auto-Login enabled. |
What is the feature about?
I'd love to see the Google/DDG Search-Shortcuts for Startpage.com as well :)
Why would you like to see the feature and what would it improve?
It would open up this feature to more users
Have you considered any downsides of the proposed feature?
I don't think there would be any downsides
Do you know about any technical implications the implementation might have? Do you have any technical suggestions?
Any additional information?
"Startpage is a search engine that forwards the search queries entered to the Google search engine and thus displays the search results anonymously. Startpage thus aims to ensure the privacy of its users. Startpage is operated by the Dutch Startpage B.V., which belongs to Surfboard Holding B.V.."
