I have to confess, I’m inaugurating this section just so I can finally brag about my emacs configurations 😜 Hope you all join me.
We get questions once in a while on how to properly configure eMacs keyboard for Blink. I don’t do anything fancy myself.
I used to have Cmd as Ctrl, as I think using the thumb was >> than using the pinky. Then I got a mechanical keyboard and had me bend the thumb in a weird way, so ended up mapping Caps as Ctrl and using the pinky. I don’t do this with Blink anymore as I like to have it system-wide. To do that, go to iOS Settings > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard > Modifiers.
I usually like Alt as Meta. Weirdly, eMacs doesn’t identify Meta anymore, and the way to go is to set Alt to the Esc modifier. I do this inside Blink as Alt is important in other apps. Go to Settings (type config) > Keyboard.
Very important, making the set-mark-command work. Usually Ctrl-Space this is captured by iOS, but we can override it. Create a Custom Press for Ctrl-Space that sends… Ctrl-space.
Hope this helps!
