mangohud parameter not working #409
Comments
MangoHUD support is still experimental, so it will likely not work with some games. We're aware of this and are looking to improve it in the future. From the Wiki:
|
Shouldn't the documentation update the mangohud section to say opengl only to no confuse anyone. I just tested 45 games right now. None worked. Which game is supposed to work with mangohud if all of them are failing to work? |
As an example, I'm able to get it working with Valheim running with OpenGL, but not the default Valheim graphics lib. We are doing a fair amount of reworking of Steam's permissions on the snapd side, so improvements to things like MangoHUD will likely wait until that is complete. |
@ashuntu Oh I KNOW about the reworking and you guys ROCK. What I meant was, in the documentation it implies that Vulkan works, when it does not for the bunch of games I tested. It does work on OpenGL, but not Vulkan, so a documentation update could help for now to avoid dummies like me posting. But I have seen the crazy improvements. |
I modified the first line of the MangoHUD section of the wiki to hopefully be more specific. |
@ashuntu you da man! |
Ensure there isn't an existing issue for this and check the wiki
Current Behavior
I read the mangohud documentation at https://github.com/canonical/steam-snap/wiki/FAQ and I am using the Beta and Edge versions. I tested several games from Hogwarts Legacy, to Cyberpunk with the popular:
mangohud %command%
Line but it never showed the mangohud. I also did MANGOHUD=1, mangohud=1, pineapple=1 and other fruits. No luck
Expected Behavior
Was expecting that if I do this for a game
mangohud %command%
It would show the mangohud.
