Describe the bug

The latest release (4.2.1) does not display avatars/profile pics for either the logged in user other users in chats.

I have tested this with Matrix.org, other public servers, and my self-hosted server.

Reproduction

  1. Log in
  2. Add a profile picture
  3. Notice it’s missing
  4. Notice profile pictures are missing, too

Expected behavior

Profile pictures are visible

Platform and versions

1. macOS Sequoia and Windows 10/11
2. Latest Cinny desktop release (4.2.1, I believe)
3. Matrix.org, others

Additional context

No response

please clear cache and reload the app. It should work.

I'm also experiencing this issue on 4.2.1, but on Linux.
I've tried clearing cache and completely logging out of the home server and attempting a cache clear afterwards and it still does not display them. Although I'm also still experiencing not being able to see media at all after my homeserver enabled authenticated media and updating to the latest "supported" authenticated media builds of cinny-desktop.

Clearing the cache and reloading was the first thing I tried. It did not work. Downgrading to the prior release fixed the issue.

Could you share the output from Right click>Inspect>Console from app?

Oops, looks like I mis-clicked. Anyway, @rollingonchrome could you please also provide your console output as you are facing it on windows platform?

I will be away from my Windows machine for a few days. I have my Mac which is running an older version of Cinny. But I'll provide the requested console output when I get back and reinstall the latest version on Windows.

@kfiven I downloaded it of the AUR, specifically cinny-desktop

@UniOnTheMap https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cinny-desktop is 4.2.0 and this was fixed in 4.2.1. We do not recommend using it as we do not maintain it.
