To probe RX/TX pins on new camera models some "protected pins" could be added to one of the UART RX/TX pins. One candidate could be the JTAG connector.
The signalling voltage of that pins could be selectable between 1.8V and 3.3V and could also get a current limiting resistor of 4k7 to avoid of frying something by connecting the probe TX pin and a camera TX pin.
