script file logging vs printing

Hi @darrenburns, first off great app, thanks for your development.

Question: has anyone been able to get basic python logging working in any of the three scripts ?
Printing to stdout is fine and all that, but I'd really like logging and be able to control the debug output.

I've added the following, and while the app doesn't complain about it, it doesn't return any output in the scripts tab, or elsewhere from what I can see.

# Add stdout handler, with level INFO if no LOGLEVEL passed in the env variables
LOGLEVEL = os.environ.get('LOGLEVEL', 'INFO').upper()
console = logging.StreamHandler(sys.stdout)
console.setLevel(LOGLEVEL)
formatter = logging.Formatter('%(asctime)s: %(levelname)-8s %(message)s')
console.setFormatter(formatter)
logging.getLogger().addHandler(console)
logger = logging.getLogger("post." + __name__)

Also I note logging is on the roadmap.

I think capturing logging will require some additional work inside Posting unfortunately. A bit of a shot in the dark but perhaps using sys.__stdout__ instead of sys.stdout will work?

Thanks for the tip Darren. Seems to sort of work, at least the logger pumps out some messages now, problem is they appear over the top of the textual layout not within the panel.

Also a rust notify timeout message keeps getting returned.
At least, knowing that trick with the __stdout__ I could try file logging instead.
