File Attached in DM

When sending a file directly in a DM from an iPhone (not previously located in the zone folder structure) to another iPhone, it becomes inaccessible to both sender and receiver. A file is indicated to be shared in the DM with the "Click for Details" image, but the file does not launch (no white page error or logs generated, absolutely no action when clicking on the file). It is visible and accessible on desktop, but not on either iPhones.
