Clicking external Portal link logs user out #924

If logged into the portal it's possible to click internal links and open them in new tabs.

However, if a portal link is external it results in the user being logged out - e.g. https://portal.dlcs.example/Images/2/image-name

Behaviour seen in Chrome and Firefox.
