Jumping on this post to send appreciations too since I wanted to do a similar thank you thread 🙂 Thank you very much for the efforts you put into this distro! In particular, I really like the Pantheon edition, which is rather nice to use for people that like the DE but don't want an apt-based system and would rather enjoy the perks of a rolling release with more up-to-date software. Very easy to install and very quick to set up, amazing job really. |

People, I love SUSE, Gecko obviously more, but I'm a normal human being, who does not share the Linux obsessive-compulsive disorder of needing to constantly type memorized terminal commands (you might be already suspecting where I'm going with this, you clever devils, you!) Please make that damn Linux terminal just as necessary in your distro, as the Windows terminal is "necessary" in Windows. Even on something like Zorin, you can't even fix a faulty app installation, without the terminal, and you're like, "Not this horse sh... again!" This crap is for the "car mechanic", not your average Betty, who doesn't know how to even open the hood of her Mazda. Microsoft is doing absolutely everything to lose its costumers, the potential market is unimaginable (always has been, if Linux distro developers wouldn't be constantly tripping on their shoelaces to not notice), with virtually only this damn terminal always standing in the way, like some retarded buffalo, or something. I'm only giving you feedback as someone who's a Gecko fan, wishing to finally be free from having to use Windows, because the Linux terminal is not my piece of cake. Fix the terminal problem, at least with a troubleshooting GUI, add stuff like Wine, Bottles, Cedega, and the like, out of the box, with the option of maintaining the Windows program files directories with runnable exe program settings, during OS migration, and you're in the land of milk and honey! |

Just sending some appreciation your way too geckolinux - I've got your latest beta of Gecko Cinnamon installed on my hard drive now, amongst other distros including Leap 15.5 (can't be bothered to upgrade to 15.6 yet), and it's working well. All the best for 2025. |

Here's another thank you to the maintainer. Everything just works on it. With opensuse I couldn't get audio to work. It works on gecko out of the box. Thank you again |

Hi,
I just wanted to write thank you for doing this distribution. It has helped me a lot. Removing PackageKit and the other stuff that comes in openSUSE standard ISOs that make things difficult sometimes, helps a lot. 99% of the time I have zero issues with GeckoLinux and it's very fast to install and set up. The XFCE and Mate versions are super light for old hardware too. It's easy for my grandfather to use and the default theme you chose is easy for him to read, GeckoLinux is easy for me to maintain for him and my family.
I'd be happy to send a small donation sometime. Do you have a method for that set up I wonder?
