Possible to mix different drivers ? #654
-
Hi, On my CNC machine, the different axes bear varying loads and constraints and are equipped with different types of motors. These motors have distinct torque and speed characteristics, which result in different electrical requirements. Hence my question: does GrblHal allow me to configure different drivers for different axes? For example, using a TMC 2209 for the X-axis and a TMC 5160 for the Y-axis. I haven't seen anything in the code that suggests this is possible... |

It is not possible to mix Trinamic drives, and will likely be hard to implement due to potentially different communcation protocols: UART, 40 bit SPI and 20 bit SPI - and even different datagrams and addressing modes as well. Some boards allow mixing non-Trinamic and Trinamic drivers though. |
