Seems like the en-GB/f voice recently changed from en-GB-Neural2-A to en-GB-Standard-N. Not sure why this happened, seeing as this line seems to hardcode that specific voice (en-GB-Neural2-A).

I think the old voice is more suited to the kind of music people use with text-to-speech samples, so it would be nice to change it back to something similar. Even one of the standard models would be good, such as en-GB-Standard-A from this page.

(even better for the future would be to be able to choose/cycle between voices)

Thanks for your help looking into this!

This seems to be due to that change:
https://services.google.com/fh/files/emails/b_362612430_reminder_1.pdf
en-GB-Standard-A actually is updated too to use directly en-GB-Standard-N

Also: "The new voices might not resemble the original speaker's voice, but they will be of higher quality and sound more natural." Hey Google, that's not what we want !

I don't think there is a simple fix possible for this sadly.

I might get back to use a selfhosted software if I find one to generate the voice on the fly, instead of relying on Google.

oh right, thanks for the info! yeah getting away from google would be great to be honest — some crappy oldschool text-to-speech would be awesome :)

i'll keep on the lookout and maybe go searching too!
