you are talking about creating the database itself or to populate it with data?
The problem with the latter is that the live data contains sensitive information which can't be shared.
I agreed with @SysPete yesterday that we need to write a script that replaces sensitive information
with random names / dates.
We would really appreciate if people can join us in the development of this software, which eventually evolves in generic software for (Perl) conferences/events.
I'm talking about creation of a database schema and populating it with test data, which is required for normal functioning of a web interface.
I had to apply a number of dirty hacks when I tried to deploy PerlDance (see #94) to make web interface work.
It's especially important to let people set up a DB easily: currently it's a non-trivial process.
