@annocean I'd like to add the following text in the "Comments, concerns, and limitations" section.
We acknowledge that while it'is important to lower barriers for data owners to share data, this needs to be balanced against the cost to data centres and/or data users in making the data truly FAIR. If data need to be standardised and cleaned before they are broadly useful, the most capable and suitable people should take responsibility for that work.
Well-publicised and well-designed best practice guidance is the most cost-effective way of reducing barriers for all participants in a data ecosystem, as they make it easier for data producers to make their data natively interoperable, which avoids the need for subsequent processing by other participants in the data ecosystem.
