I would suggest github actions? I've mostly switched to using this now and find it a bit easier to work with. Anyway, that's just my two cents...

... and also whatever we do it should send upload the release to pypi as well as running the tests
I've been doing this pretty easily with Github Actions using this approach https://packaging.python.org/guides/publishing-package-distribution-releases-using-github-actions-ci-cd-workflows/
