Is this project still active? :) #1116

Literally every company I do work for now uses the Veewee software design, however a commercial carbon copy called Packer is what everyone knows and uses. Hashicorp is a commercial company and unlike an OSS repo on github they promoted their product and now no-one seems to know it's just a commercial rewrite of existing OSS software. I do regularly tell them because I feel Veewee/Jedi4ever deserves far more credit :) As packer is a literal 1:1 clone and has been so widely adopted and supported by Hashicorp, there's just no point working on Veewee now. If it was only similar then both projects could co-exist, but that's not the case. |
When I offered some support while working more actively with Veewee for a while, I was made a collaborator. Nowadays I'm trying to shift from virtual machines more towards Docker. It's pretty inactive. I think virtual machines still have their place though, so this project still has purpose. |
I really, really liked working with VeeWee in the past, and I want to thank you-all for your work. Thank you for the updates here on the status. :) I do wish that more for-profit companies gave back to foundational F/OSS projects, 'small' and 'large'. :( |
So, now that Packer is BSL, and love for HashiCorp may be waning... I wonder if that means life for VeeWee yet? :) |
Howdy. So, first, thank you for Veewee! I really enjoyed using Veewee in the past, and now I have some possibilities for using it again so I looked up the project. However, I see that the last commit was in April of 2018, and a number of PRs have not been integrated. Is there a new fork that's taken over development of Veewee? Cheers! And, again, thank you for the amazing work.
