I have started a session (I think) and see this in the log:

2020-08-30 17:14 INFO     Tandem UDPGateway is listening on ('', 55808).
2020-08-30 17:14 INFO     Tandem Agent has started.

But, as far as I can tell, I'm not able to join the session from another Emacs process running locally. Could you please add some more detailed instructions on how to use the system?

I'll note that Tandem is mentioned on https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/CollaborativeEditing but Tandem-Emacs is not mentioned. Given the state of other solutions mentioned there, it seems to me that Tandem-Emacs may be the most promising!

Tandem appears to be unmaintained, and this package definitely is... I'm going to archive it now. I suggest you look around elsewhere. Gitduck looks promising, they have Emacs support on their roadmap.
