Should this be anonymous to others, i.e. the outside world, or also anonymous to the system, i.e. where people with full access to the database can't find out what user is behind the posts?

How will this work with groups, if you can only post in groups if you are a member, your anonymous posts should be linked to your user account.

Is this really an issue, where most people will opt to create an anonymous account anyways?

Even with full access to the database anonymity should be a right whenever possible.

With groups where being a member is necessary to post the concept of anonymity automatically falls off and it's not important to implement it
