The Atomate starter generates a invalid my_launchpad.yaml file. We need to include the port in that.

Really? the file requires an explicit port: 27017?

Please post an example generated invalid file (for a regression test)

Also is there a reason it pipes to stdout rather than making the files?

It is the UNIX WAY (cue angelic music). Could make the files, though.
