Hi @maweigert, I was wondering if it is possible to implement some shading effects based on Blender's matcaps:
Basically, the shaders are based on a simple square image with a shaded sphere. Then according to the surface's normal and the viewer position a certain pixel is used for color the surface. Is super simple but really nice and flexible.
I know that is just an aesthetic feature, and maybe is not important than others, but I just wanted to give a possible input. Feel free to completely ignore that :P
