Add axes/subplots to a main-figure after they where created?

Usually you add subplots like this to a multi-plot-figure (how do you name it?):

fig, axes = plt.subplots(nrows=2, ncols=1)
sns.lineplot(ax=axes[0], data=a, x='M', y='n', hue='Y')
sns.barplot(ax=axes[1], data=a, x='M', y='n', hue='Y')

This do not suite to the flow of my code. I would prefer something like this:

myaxes = []

ax = sns.lineplot(data=a, x='M', y='n', hue='Y')
myaxes.append(ax)
ax = sns.barplot(data=a, x='M', y='n', hue='Y')
myaxes.append(ax)

fig, axes = plt.subplots(nrows=len(myaxes), ncols=1)
for idx, ax in enumerate(myaxes):
    axes[idx].draw(ax)

This is not possible with matplotlib, sorry.
