if you are using linux mint, make sure you are using linux mint 21.3 (which is the ubuntu equivalent of jammy jellyfish), and on the first logon screen when booting, press the cinnamon (mountain logo) and find cinnamon on wayland (experimental) and then logon as normal and retry.
