Change a device inside a rack & all connections with it

Hi,

Inside Netbox > Racks, I have a device on U10, for example I made a mistake and want to change it to U12.
I change the device from U10 to U12, but all the things that are connected to this device in U10 won't change with it to U12.

Is there the option to:
A- Have everything move to U12 (connections, etc)
B- Have a warning, telling me that I'm about to do a change that will have effect on the connections (etc)?

I'm not sure exactly what your problem is.

Connections are associated directly with a device, not with a rack position. If you move a device from U10 to U12, then it has no impact on existing connections: they will remain connected to the same interfaces on that device (or front ports, rear ports, power ports etc)

In fact, you can move a device into a different rack, or even in a different site, and the connections will remain. This can be a bit weird as you end up with cables are running from one site to another - extra long cables :-)

Thanks for your reply. Is this something I missed in an update? I don't experience this happening when I move a rack from U10 to U12, that all the connections connected with that rack, are being transported with.

Then please show explicitly an example of the behaviour you are seeing, i.e. a sequence of steps that reproduces the issue, and what the final state looks like which is not what you expect or want.

As I said before, terminations on a cable are not associated with a rack position, only with a device component - it's always been like that - and I can't imagine what you're looking at which suggests otherwise.

It would of course be helpful if you could say what version of Netbox you're running.
