error after update to NetBox 4.2.0: requires_internet

After updating NetBox to 4.20 using the Git method with additional package django-auth-ldap, this error occurs after login:

It doesn't seem to be related to LDAP authentication or any plugin. I disabled all of them and tried to login with a local user, same error message.

The string requires_internet was added in 4.2.0:

Apparently the "extras.RSSFeedWidget" has this new setting. You may be able to fix this by resetting your personal dashboard config, otherwise try a temporary hack like this:

./netbox/extras/dashboard/widgets.py:        if self.config.get('requires_internet']) and settings.ISOLATED_DEPLOYMENT:

I have not made any personal customizations to the dashboard, at least not intentionally.

Tested on Ubuntu 24.04 and Alma Linux 9. Same error. I have some plugins and LDAP authentication id enabled.

Encountered this error after upgrade from 4.1.10 to 4.2.0 and only on Safari web browser(was used before without any issues). Tried with Firefox and Chrome - all works as expected. Looks like something browser specific or, maybe, caches.

On Safari with Private window issue is resolved. So it looks like issue is in caching or cookies.

I was able to fix this by visiting https://netbox-url/extras/dashboard/reset and then confirming the dashboard reset.

Not a real fix, but a workaround. A hard sell for my manager.

true, definitely a workaround! Also because this solution needs to applied by every user, but this did the trick for me without making local changes to files. I can sit it out till we get a real fix from upstream
