I have mkv files that has AAC 5.1 coding. On default media player Dolby Digital is working fine - problem is with nova player. I'm trying different passthrough set up in application but without success. Even during move is playing in backgroud - changing passthrough setup doesn't even shutter video for sec.

Dolby Digital is AC3, AAC is different codec. Some AVRs does not support multichannel (5.1) AAC like yamaha. There are some players that can recode AAC to AC3/eAC3 on-the-fly but nova is not one of them.
Install at least 6.3.18 and check "technical information on Android TV info playing tile (screen HDR capabilities and current mode, supported refresh rates and current one, HDMI receiver audio capabilities)"

Yes
I have 6.3.22

FYI
I've checked with KODI/VLC and no 5.1 as well ... only on system media player - which is sad as I cannot have shared folder from PC (smb).
