⚠️ Please check that this feature request hasn't been suggested before.

  • I searched previous Ideas in Discussions didn't find any similar feature requests.
  • I searched previous Issues didn't find any similar feature requests.
  • I am only requesting a single feature. Multiple changes should be split into individual requests, with links between them.
  • I believe my requested feature will be generally applicable to other users, not just me: it is not uniquely tied to my personal workflow.

🔖 Feature description

A known limitation of task dependencies is that it is not possible to navigate between them.

Recently a feature was added that opens a date-picker when left-clicking on any task date field in Reading mode and Tasks query search results.

I suggest a similar feature that would jump to the referenced task(s) when clicking on the task dependency icon or other task dependency icons.

✔️ Solution

Obsidian tasks uses two dependency icons, 🆔 and ⛔ depending on the direction of the dependency.

These icons could act as a link to the referenced task(s).

When hovering over the icon, the dependent task would be shown in a popup.

In the case that there is no direct 1:1 mapping (one task could block or be blocked by multiple tasks), the popup could be also used to select one of them that the user wants to navigate to.
