Rankify OSX Plugin: Empowering Established DAOs with Merit-Based Governance

Overview:

The Rankify dApp aims to establish a system for autonomous competence identification within DAOs, fostering merit-based organizations. Our goal is to empower existing DAOs built on the OSX framework to make more informed and secure decisions driven by talented individuals and thoroughly discussed topics. This proposal invites discussion on desired features and community needs to guide our development priorities.

Core Value Proposition:

The Rankify OSX plugin will seamlessly integrate with existing DAOs, working alongside current governance mechanisms like token voting systems. By utilizing Rankify, DAOs gain the ability to:

• Identify and Rank Talent: Objectively assess and rank participants based on their skills, contributions, and expertise.
• Implement Merit-Based Privileges: Configure roles, voting weights, and access rights based on individual merit.
• Enhance Decision-Making: Facilitate more informed and balanced decision-making processes by leveraging the collective intelligence of ranked participants.
• Foster Cross-Stream Collaboration: Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across different domains within the DAO.

Integration and Functionality:

1. Dynamic Quorum Requirements Based on Proposer Rank

This solution leverages a rankify instance that poses fundamental constitutional questions to the organization, such as "What is our Constitution?".

By actively participating in this discussion framework, users earn a rank reflecting their understanding of the subject matter. Higher-ranking participants benefit from reduced quorum requirements for their proposals, while lower-ranking members face increased requirements.

This dynamic quorum adjustment allows both newcomers and established members to submit governance proposals, with the required quorum reflecting the proposer's demonstrated understanding of the organization's core principles.

Additional considerations:

• Rank NFT Staking and Slashing: Implement a mechanism to lock (stake) rank NFTs and enable slashing for proposers who engage in malicious activities or attempt to harm the protocol.
• On-Chain Hashing for Agenda Fast-Tracking: Hash discussion topics on-chain to allow for expedited agenda processing.

2. Autonomous Security Council (Working Groups)

This solution utilizes the rankify plugin to enable the creation of specialized working groups, such as an autonomous security council, by allowing the conversion of regular governance tokens into working group-specific tokens.

Participants can gain autonomous rank within these working groups by contributing financial resources. This allows DAOs to establish sybil attack-resistant competence identification frameworks and grant privileges based on demonstrated expertise.

Examples of privileges:

• Protocol Pausing: Stake rank NFTs to gain the ability to pause the protocol in emergency situations.
• Veto Power: Grant veto power to high-ranking members within specific working groups.
• Other Privileged Actions: Define and implement additional privileges based on the needs of the DAO.

Additional considerations:

• Sub-DAO Formation: Explore the creation of sub-DAOs to represent each working group, providing a more stable and specialized governance structure.
• Game-Theoretic Incentives: Design incentives to encourage high value for Rank NFTs and associated tokens, as well as reducing the circulating supply of Rank NFTs to mitigate governance inflation.
• Inter-DAO Security Guarantees: Establish mechanisms for secure interaction between the main DAO, sub-DAOs, and stakers, potentially including slashing capabilities for the managerial DAO and carefully defined conditions for exercising such power.
