running

./pktctl -V

works fine, however sending

./pktctl version

it crashes both PKTCTL & PKTD.

EOF means, rather unhelpfully, that your query has crashed pktd. Can you paste the crash log on pktd side ?

sure, please find attached zip which is a piped stderr when PKTD crashes.
