release 1.2 it lists external/cd audio input being supported via the wavetable header and that a connection guide would be coming to the wiki soon™ but it never appeared, would be nice for early oddball drives without atapi support.

The wavetable header is standardized, you should be able to input your left (pin 24), right (pin 20) and ground (pins 21, 23 or 25) signals directly into it no matter what sound card you have (in other words, this "hack" is not exclusive to the PicoGUS)
