Bug: System freeze when resizing certain application windows

A recent update to the cosmic desktop introduced an issue where resizing the window of certain applications would cause a hard freeze of the whole system. An easy to reproduce example of this is the flatpak version of Discord. After some trial and error I was able to narrow down the issue to being introduced in this commit: 1fb1bf1
