Cross-project querying

As the project sits currently, should there be a way that I can get a query to work for all issues assigned to me server-wide (or even within a group) instead of per-project?

If there is, I can't figure out how. The server configuration seems to be locked to specifying a single project.

If there isn't, does anyone have a rough idea how much work I'd probably be looking at to try to add support for that?
