Update site is rate limited, please move to github pages #1
Comments
Our project (Eclipse Trace Compass Incubator) regularly faces download problems which cause builds to fail (e.g. patch verification builds). Could you please provide the suggested change to use gh-pages? I would be greatly appreciated. |
@HyukjinKwon do you see an issue with moving this project to the py4j org? I am now hosting the Eclipse update site on this project (I would move the project then set the required configuration)? |
I don't see any issues with that, @Pontesegger do you? As long there is no connection issue like today (e.g. rate limiter). While you at it, would it be possible to use https instead of http? |
looks good to me, +1 |
Oh just saw it. I think we can definitely move to Py4J org. BTW, I am trying to set up GitHub Pages for Py4J main site first (I think I can manage it around Weds this week). Then, I will take a look around this 👍 |
I will take care of moving this repository and enabling github pages on it wednesday or thursday. I will keep you all posted once it's done. Thanks |
I moved the update site to the Py4J org, configured the GitHub pages branch and I updated the nginx configuration to redirect to the new GitHub page. @Pontesegger and @bhufmann could you confirm that the update site is working correctly?
I don't understand this comment, the update site has always been available through https. Do you mean dropping http entirely? Thanks for your help and the easy to follow instructions! |
The current update site actually redirects requests to
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bartdag/py4j-eclipse-udpate-site/master/artifacts.jar
This location is rate limited. We use this site in several automated builds @ Eclipse and regularily face download errors, causing all kinds of builds to break. Would you mind changing the p2 location to github pages? This is actually just a setting in your git repo. AFAIKT these locations do not have a rate limit
