This talk had some cool ideas around improving "game feel": Jan Willem Nijman - Vlambeer - "The art of screenshake"

e.g.

  • Adding sound effects
  • Screenshake on collision
  • Lerping camera to player instead of always having it centered
    etc

  • show with text how much resource was gained e.g. pop out small +1s that disappear quickly when group bumps into mine
