I'd love the pit/hole tool to act similarly to that of the set height brush, that way if I'm making dark empty voids into nothing, I can lock what height it creates the holes. This could help avoid the brush making holes into cliffs or higher level terrains.
Since the holes are not as smooth as a terrain brush can be, it makes sense to have a lock height feature for the finer details devs may be looking to make.
This image shows a cliff drop where holes are also present, but if you look closer to the left side, parts of the cliff got removed by add hole. It's difficult to make it function properly, even with a smaller brush size.
