We would like you to get started with Android and to know the course's development process before you start working on your app, thus we have written a set of "bootcamp" guides to help you get started. Your team's app will start from the output of the bootcamp.
While you will need to learn new things as part of the project, we want you to learn only what you need and when you need it. This way, you will be able to make useful contributions quickly, rather than spending weeks learning new concepts that you may not end up using.
If you encounter any problems, your first reaction should be to look for a solution or workaround on the Internet. That is what any staff member would first suggest if you ask for help. There are a lot of tutorials when it comes to Android app development, and StackOverflow remains a good source of answers.
Each team member, individually, must:
- Read the course description, including the development process description, to understand how the course will work (you do not need to create a GitHub team repo and project yet, only know what we expect you to do later)
- Create a "Hello, world!" app by following the intro guide.
- Add tests to the app by following the testing guide.
- Add continuous integration to the app by following the operations guide.
Divide the following tasks among your team, each of which introduces one concept:
Each task should result in a pull request to the team repository, with a code review from a team member. Whether you actually merge the pull request depends on whether you think the task will be useful for your app at this stage, you could also close it and come back to it later.
