I frequently get unknown Kanji when doing vocab practice (which is fine) however I think it would aid learning if you can open the kanji to get it's meaning (or related words) like in the letter practice. This would only be after the 'Show Answer' of course.
Note this is similar to #233 but instead of Kanji -> radical it's vocab -> Kanji. I think the linking of concepts is in general a really effective way to learn/retain information.
