sha256

sha256 returns the lowercase hex string presenration of the SHA-256 hash of the given input value.

Examples

(Hashes are truncated here for readability.)

  • (sha256 "") ➜ "e3b0c44298fc1c149af…49b934ca495991b7852b855"
  • (sha256 "hello") ➜ "2cf24dba5fb0a30e26e…fa7425e73043362938b9824"

Forms

(sha256 data:string) ➜ string

  • data is an arbitrary expression.

sha256 evaluates the given expression and coalesces the result to a string. If either of those steps fail, an error is returned. Otherwise the function will calculate the SHA-256 hash and return the hex presentation (a string of 64 characters).
