From t8bg: Made a few changes to make things more compatible with actual Commodore BBSs. Like setting the colors (white on black) and charset to lowercase. (sorry, I don't have the ability to edit the file on github)

I just merged in t8bg's updates that he posted on Discord. I can't test this, not having a serial card.
