How to open exported CSV files that contain Asian characters:


On Mac:

Method 1:

  • Open the CSV file using the "Note" application.
  • Copy the data into the CSV file.

Method 2:

  • Open the CSV file with the "Numbers" application.

On Windows:

Method 1:

  • On a Windows computer, open the CSV file using Notepad.
  • Click "File > Save As", select "ANSI" from the "Encoding" field, click "Save".
  • Open this new CSV file using Excel, those non-English characters should be displayed properly.

Method 2:

  • Click "File > New" in Excel.
  • Click "Data" tab > "From Text" option, select the downloaded CSV file.
  • Excel will display "Text Import Wizard".
  • Select "Delimited" radio button.
  • In "File origin" field - select "Unicode (UTF-8)".
  • Click "Next >" button, select "Comma" checkbox, click "Finish" button.
  • Excel will display non-English characters properly.

Data Collections Tips:

When you add a Linked Field in a Data Collection, make sure the cursor is set in the parent Data Collection
