Marco, Justas, Diego, Stefano and Hassen discussed the possible CouchDB optimizations for the next ASO release after the overload of CouchDB last week:
- Provisioning of new machines (DiegoC. + StefanoB. will follow-up with the HTTP group)
- New machine for CouchDB (big VM or PM), 1 small VM for ASO for the rotation and 1 small VM for the ASO app. in testbed
- The request for a new machine for couchDB has been done since a while (6 months or so). DiegoG. is waiting news from IT. Diego G.: By 18th of March we should have the machine or at least a clear timeline.
- Split the views into several couch apps (DiegoC.)
- Clean-up old views (DiegoC.)
- Write the views in Erlang (DiegoC. + JustasB.)
- DiegoC has already did some tests and he did not see particular gain of performance
- JustasB pointed that the configuration should be tuned to see the gain
- DiegoC and JustasB will follow-up further testing
- Fix the update API of WMCore to delete + put instead of post (HassenR.)
- Implement a backup solution for the publication in case of couchDB failure (MarcoM.)
