HowTo Book
Prospective authors have the following possibilities to get in touch with Language Science Press
- [email protected]
- $[email protected]
- direct mail to the press coordinators
- direct mail to the series editors
- personal meeting at conferences or similar
The first contact is called "expression of interest". This is informal. The series editors decide whether the proposed title would fit into the series and then either invite the submission or decline. The coordinator updates the statistics with title, authors, affiliations, countries, language of proposed publication and date.
The series editors ask the author to give them an approximate date of submission and approach the author when that deadline expires. They forward this information to the coordinator.
The author submits the book to the series either via OMP or via email to the series editors. If a book has been submitted via email, the series editor informs the coordinator.
The book is reviewed for 8 weeks. Once every trimester, the coordinator inquires about the status.
A book is either rejected or accepted conditional upon the implementation of changes. The series editors inform the coordinator.
The original file is made available to the coordinator, who gives technical recommendations for the final submission.
The author prepares a version of the manuscript incorporating the reviewers' and the coordinator's suggestions.
The final files must all pass the sanity check available at http://langsci-press.org/templatesAndTools, or have a good explanation will certain tests fail.

The final pdf is sent to the series editors. If they accept the final submission, the final tex-files are made available to the coordinator.
The author sends a blurb, a biosketch and five keywords to the coordinator. The book is set to "forthcoming" in the catalog. The book is announced as accepted on Twitter and Facebook.
The manuscript is sent out for Proofreading while the author starts working on the index.
