Upcoming milestones

CDL

  • By Q3, post v1.0 specification of CDL on github.org.

Control sequences

  • By Q4, release a version of the control library for secondary systems in Modelica.

Closed loop performance assessment

  • By Q4, successfully compare the energy and comfort performance of two ASHRAE GPC 36 control sequences with a Modelica HVAC and control model linked to EnergyPlus.

  • Go/no-go: By Q6, successful comparison of the energy and comfort performance of two ASHRAE GPC 36 control sequences with a Modelica HVAC and control model linked to EnergyPlus. The technical criteria are that the energy performance of two GPC 36 sequences can be compared in a closed-loop simulation and that a first version of its CDL representation can be shown.

CDL export to English language

  • Prototype.

  • Automation with ANTLR.

Implementation of hardware interface

  • By Q3, post drivers for the accessing measured data on github.org.

Case studies

  • By Q4, case study report for the secondary HVAC system, including the efforts for setup, configuration, and the anticipated time savings. ... case studies using data from real buildings ...

Commercialization and market transformation

  • By Q9, hold an ASHRAE seminar or forum about controls design and verification to aid dissemination and get feedback from the ASHRAE community.

  • ...commercialization plan development will be led by Paul Ehrlich in close collaboration with Cole Roberts (Arup) and Mark Hydeman (Continual Energy), advised by Paul Oswald (CBRE). Hydeman will address how ASHRAE can take ownership of the standardization process when this project is completed or sufficiently evolved.
